A week ago Martin Gerber was sent down the the AHL’s Binghamton Senators
for what was called a conditioning stint which brought up a promising young
prospect by the name of Brian Elliot. While Gerber was in the minors Elliot
played well for the Senators so well that GM Brian Murray put Martin Gerber on
waviers. Afters a couple days Gerber days as a Ottawa Senator would be numbered
as the 34 year old netminder cleared waivers. Now the Senators have a couple of choices on
what to the with Gerber they could leave gerber in the minors but if you did that
he would still have a salary cap hit. GM Bryan Murray could trade gerber to a
team that needs a goalie or he could try to loan Gerber to a european team
which would get rid of his salary cap hit.So that it for now I’ll keep you posted on
